Conserving unwanted letters

I have had this habit forever... If I mistype something on the computer, instead of erasing it, I often save as many words and characters as I can by deleting the unnecessary parts and reusing the letters and words and typing around them to complete the corrected syntax. Sometimes I’ll move the parts I want to keep so I don’t have to retype them. There is some kind of subliminal satisfaction in preserving these precious little innocent glyphs rather than letting them vanish into the ether. (It almost always takes more time to do this than to just retype everything).

But I’ve asked others... I am not the only one to do this. What do you do with those poor unwanted characters?
